Sublimation Printer Setup Instructions

**DO NOT UPDATE PRINTER FIRMWARE**

Doing so will cause cartridges to not be recognized

Part 1 - Hardware

  1. Remove printer from box.

  2. Remove all packing materials, blue tape from printer.  Remove print cartridges from foam outer layers.

  3. Remove the colored plug with a tab on the top of each cartridge.  It is the one nearest you when inserted. This is the air vent and it is required to be open for ink to flow out.  Not removing it will cause the printer to print blank pages.

  4. Plug in and turn on printer.  Follow prompts for printer initialization.

  5. DO NOT update printer firmware.  Printer will no longer recognize cartridges if firmware is updated.

Part 2 - Software

7. Once the printer initialization has been completed it is time to install the Epson software on your computer.  This MUST be done.  Do not use your computer's built in drivers.  Built in drivers do not have the needed Epson color profile.  Without this, your colors and quality will not be right.

The software is available on the included CD.  If you do not have a CD Rom drive, download the setup for the WF-7820 HERE, or for the WF-7310 HERE.  Choose the Printer Driver in the Drivers section.

Make sure you do not update any of the printer firmware.  Doing so will remove its ability to use our cartridges.  In the event it does happen, we can help you fix it.

**IMPORTANT**

When installing the software make sure to remove the check mark on the automatic updates box if it gives you the option.  If you are on a Windows computer and do not see this option during setup, you MUST turn off automatic updates.  Instructions are available HERE.  Not doing this step will allow Epson to update the firmware on your printer.  This will cause your printer to no longer operate as intended to.

Part 3 - Print Settings

8. Always use a graphics design program that allows you to use your printer's driver preferences.  A picture of windows and mac versions are shown here.  We suggest using Photoshop or Corel, but you can use any you are comfortable with.  Gimp is a free alternative to photoshop available HERE.

9. Prior to printing always go into your print preferences and adjust your Paper Type and Quality as shown in the pictures.

10. As many are not familiar with sublimation ink, it is supposed to print dull and colors on paper will not match your screen colors.  If you've installed the epson driver and have made the correct adjustments to your print preferences, your dull paper colors will become vibrant after heat pressing.

11. Sublimation paper usually has a coated side for printing.  To determine what side to print on, wet two fingers and touch the corner of the page.  The stickier side will be the printing side.
